Kitty Hawk Blonde Ale
Here’s your chance to pick up a blonde from the beach. This gal has a British accent and an all-American attitude. Clean, crisp flavor, light color and a great balance between hops and malt. Truly a drinkable beer. We start with the finest barley from counties Munster and Leinster, Ireland. We use British Challenger hops for a full-bodied rounded bitterness and finish with Mt. Hood hops for a hint of citrus.
Lost Colony Nut Brown Ale
A beer brewed in tribute to a great explorer, spy, poet, and sea dog, Sir Walter Raleigh. Our brown ale has a deep mahogany color and a rich malt-forward profile, balancing notes of biscuit, mild cocoa and earthy hops. A creamy mouthfeel and full body enhances its’ drinkability, making our Nut Brown Ale an extremely sessionable beer that embodies all the character of great British brewing traditions.
Holy Hand Grenade Imperial Stout
Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great. Because it was transported across the freezing Baltic, Russian imperial stout was brewed with a high level of alcohol. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. It’s a rich, intense brew with vicious little teeth.
Hatteras Red
In the 1700s the “Hatteras Witch” was tied to a tree, destined to be burnt alive. With a clap of thunder and a flash of lightning she disappeared leaving only her name, Cora, scorched into the trunk of that tree. You can still see it today. A woman like that deserves a beer. This, our original Red Ale, is a blend of mild English hops, sweet Irish malts and roasted barely. Hatteras Red is a ruby session ale with a gentle hop bitterness, mild malt notes and a bewitching hint of ‘roast’.
Nags Head IPA
British IPAs were never meant to be a clown car for hops. Steeped in lore (and extra hops) the IPA is a stronger version of a pale ale. First brewed in England and exported for the British troops in India during the late 1700s. The added hops and alcohol helped the beer survive the journey. Our English style IPA is characterized by British hop character (earthy, floral) and increased, not doubled, alcohol content. Different from its American counterpart, this beer does not neglect its barley soul.
Charron Stout
Named after the legendary ferryman who carried souls across the river Styx to the underworld, our traditional dry Irish stout will transport you to a different place. We use malt from The Malting Company of Ireland, Fuggle Hops and Dublin water to brew the quintessential Irish beer.
Kill Devil Hills Scotch Ale
In the 1700s, along the Outer Banks coast, they brewed a rum so strong it would ‘kill the devil’. It was so popular they named a town after it. We named a beer after it. A scotch ale, also known as a ‘Wee Heavy’, is a strong pale ale originally brewed in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is overwhelmingly malty with a rich caramel flavor and aroma. Kill Devil Scotch ale brings forth visions of fogged-filled bogs, dimly lit pubs, and witty conversations.
Manteo Porter
“I have not tasted a better Porter.”
A quote from Charlie Papazian, one of the most prominent and recognized names in the world of beer and brewing.
We are proud to bring back this great, easy drinking dark ale. Light enough to drink year-round and packed with chocolate, stone fruit, and caramel flavors.
Santa Sleigher
We oak age this beer twice; once in bourbon, once in rum barrels. Sweet rum flavors and bourbon's vanilla notes combine with a hefty amount of Irish malts to give this beer a powerful yet smooth taste. No, we did not add ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon or (hell no) peppermint. This is a beer, not a fruit cake.
